Joseph
First you’re betrayed by your
soon-to-be-wife
And then God comes to you in a
dream and says,
“No, really, she’s not lying, it
really was supernatural”
And you trust God and trust Mary
and go on.
And then you have to go up for
the census:
the baby can’t wait,
your family’s house is full,
Mary is in more and more pain,
This is the first time you’ve
done this,
And oh yeah it will be the
Messiah, so don’t screw this up.
But lo, God provides, and the
baby is healthy.
And you trust God and go on.
And then you’re told to go to
Egypt,
Which you do.
And then you’re told to go back,
Which you do.
Then God says “Not Jerusalem
though,”
So you don’t.
You go back to Nazareth,
because you trust God and go on.
And you come to the end of your
life,
And your son is not the messiah
(yet?)
Mostly a good carpenter and a
kind man
Loves God, knows an incredible
amount of Torah
And yet
God has never failed you before.
You trust God and go on.
